Who Are We?

A group of citizens interested in the prevention of cruelty to animals, the relief of suffering among animals, and the education of the public. We are a nonprofit organization.

What Is Our Mission?

To promote and educate the public regarding humane care and treatment for all animals in Elgin and the surrounding area.
To assist the Elgin Animal Control officers and the Elgin Humane Society shelter in:
The return of lost animals to their owners
Seeking suitable homes for animals without owners
Providing low cost spay and neuter programs
Providing low cost vaccination programs
Preventing cruelty to animals
To advocate for animal health and welfare and to provide a forum for discussion of animal welfare concerns.

NOTE: We do not pick up stray or injured animals; call Animal Control.



How Can You Help?

Because the Elgin Humane Society is mainly composed of volunteers, you can help in many ways:
Join the Elgin Humane Society.
Give of yourself by volunteering.
Donate money.
Spay or neuter your pets (dogs and cats; male and female).
Vaccinate your pets.
Provide adequate shelter, food, and water for your pets.
Properly restrain your pets on and off your property.
Do not chain your animal long-term.
Use a collar with ID tag - incl. phone number, name, and address.
